[Advaita-l] Emptiness of relationships

In this chapter of the Padma Purana, some of these verses convey the
fragility of attachment:

पद्मपुराणम्/खण्डः ५ (पातालखण्डः)/अध्यायः ०८८

कस्य पुत्राः प्रिया भार्या कस्य स्वजनबांधवाः ।
कः कस्य नास्ति संसारे न संबंधो द्विजोत्तम ३०।
मायामोहेन संमूढा मानवाः पापचेतनाः ।
इदं गृहमयं पुत्र इयं भार्या ममैव हि ३१।
अनृतं दृश्यते कांत संसारस्य हि बंधनम् ३२।

Son, spouse, or any attachment has delusion for its cause.  When you search
the true content of these you will find that there is no base for them. So
these are said to be false. That is, the person who is supposed to be a
jiva, is simply unrelated to anything.

The famous Bhaja Govindam verses say this alone:

का ते कान्ता कस्ते पुत्रः संसारोयम् अतीव विचित्रः।
कस्य त्वम् कः कुत आयातः तत्त्वं चिन्तय तदिह भ्रातः॥ ८॥

The teaching is:  inquire as to who the son is, who the wife is , who you
are and where you came from.

कस्त्वं कोऽहं कुत आयातः
का मे जननी को मे तातः ।
इति परिभावय सर्वमसारम्
विश्वं त्यक्त्वा स्वप्नविचारम् ॥२३॥

When contemplated, all of these are known to be akin to a dream, with no
reality intrinsic to them.
