Namaste Subbu ji
There was the earlier discussion on the question of whether the trimUrtis
exalted jIvas or direct manifestations of Ishvara with no prior jIva
embodiment.
If I recollect, it was indicated that while the aspects of Shiva and Vishnu
were definitely never connected with any earlier jIva embodiment, the
status of brahmA rather asymmetrically was relegated to that of an exalted
jIva.
To reconcile with references like the one equating the trimUrtis, it was
mentioned that the word brahmA can be understood in both ways viz., an
eternal aspect of Ishvara the kAraNa brahman who wields the creative
power, and also in a "lower" different manifestation as a special jIva, at
the beginning of each kalpa, who is also termed brahmA (hiraNyagarbha)
through whom that creative power is finally wielded.
