// समस्तभ्रमेषु सामान्यस्वरूप माधारः इति विशेषरूपमधिष्ठानमिति चोच्यते ।
मिथ्यासर्पाश्रयभूतरज्जो: ' इयम्' इति सामान्यरूपं सर्पस्याधारः, 'रज्जुः' इति
विशेषरूपमधिष्ठानं च यथा भवति, तथा मिथ्याप्रपञ्चाश्रयभूतात्मनः
सामान्यात्मकसद्रूपं प्रपञ्चस्याघारः, असङ्गत्वाद्वितीयत्वादिविशेषरूपमधिष्ठानं
च भवति । अयं च विभाग आधाराधिष्ठानयोः श्रीमच्छङ्करभगवत्पादाचार्य- प्रशिष्यभूत
सर्वज्ञात्ममुनीन्द्रेण संक्षेपशारीरकाख्यस्वग्रन्ये प्रदर्शितः । //.
Translation by Smt Bhuvaneswari // In all cases of error, it is said that
the general nature is the support and the specific nature is the
substratum. The ‘this is’ part of the rope which is the support of the
false snake is the general feature and is the support of snake, 'rope' is
the specific part and is the substratum of snake, similarly, the Self which
is the support of the false world has the general feature as Existence
which is the support of the world, the specific features like unassociated,
non- duality etc., are the substratum. This division as support and
substratum has been revealed in the text titled Samkṣepaśārīraka (1.31) by
Sarvajñātma Muni, the grand-disciple of Śrīmad Shankara Bhagavatpada //.
