द्वौ हुडाविव युध्येते पुरुषार्थौ समासमौ ।
प्राक्तनश्चैहिकश्चैव शाम्यत्यत्राल्पवीर्यवान् ॥ ५ ॥

*dvau huḍāviva yudhyete puruṣārthau samāsamau* |
*prāktanaścaihikaścaiva śāmyatyatrālpavīryavān* || 5 |

The two 'free wills' (ie one being the free will bring exerted now and the
second being prArabdha which is the second 'free will' since it too was
created by our free will exerted in the past or past lives) contend with
each other like two head-butting rams of unequal strength, where in the
mightier ram overcomes the other. (Paraphrased)

A verse from the yoga vAshiShTha often quoted by Sri Yellamraju Srinivas
Rao garu, a stalwart Vedantic acharya who discoursed on shAnkara vedAnta in
Telugu.
