Bhaskarji,
SSSS in Sugama (section 40ff) explains smriti rupah or specifically, smṛtirūpaḥ
paratra pūrva dṛṣṭa-āvabhāsah, as pertaining to lokiah adhyasa not adhyatma
adhyasa. A week ago or so, I posted a lovely response on this thread from
Prasanth Netiji in this regard. No response from that posting has been
forthcoming.  If Bhasyakara uses causal or material terms relating to
avidya or adhyasa, they must be taken as figurative only despite mvv's best
efforts to prove otherwise. There is no winning this debate with mvv.
SSSSji tried for 40 years. However, I find the debate good for manana and
keeping some logic circuits functioning.
