SriRamana Bhagawan says Karma is Jatam .Karma is not intelligent or sentient thing.There is a Phala Dhatha.So Karma is not an independent entity to act on its own but subject to Ishwara's disposition.

Shankara while answering the question how can same jeeva can awake with same avidyA kAma karma when he is ONE with parabrahman in sushupti, makes an interesting observation, he clarifies it is Ishwara's vibhUti, he is sarvajna and he knows how to tag respective avidya kAma karma when jeeva awakes from oneness...he gives the example of haMsa ksheera.  Just could not recall exact bhAshya reference but it is there somewhere in kArika bhAshya or sUtra bhAshya.  

By the way I am curious to know how this avasthA traya prakriya being handled by pUrva mImAmsakas in their works !!?? or is it just arthavAda according to them??
